She had 400 cupcakes, she sold 4 over 5. Means 5 over 5 = 400 cupcakes
So you draw 5 bars = 400 cupcakes
Shade away 4 bars cause she sold it away.
5 units = 400 cupcakes
1 unit = 400 ÷ 5 = 80 cupcakes
Find 4 units ( the number that she sold away )
4 units = 80 x 4 = 320 cupcakes
Now she left 1 over 4. But half of the ones she left, she gave them away to her neighbours. So know you know she left 1 unit cause 5 units - 4 units she sold away = 1 unit. The 1 unit is 80 cupcakes. She gave them half way. So 80 x 1 over 2 = 40 OR
80 ÷ 2 = 40.

I hope it helps! :)
