AB = 6 - 1=5 units is the base of the triangle ABE. So the perpendicular height of triangle ABE is the vertical distance from E to B.
Vertical distance from E to B is the difference in its y-coord. I. E. k - (-1) =k+1 if k> 0 and
-1-k if k <0
Area = 15
1/2 x 5 x (k + 1)= 15
5(k+1)=30
K+1= 6
K= 5
Or
1/2 x 5 x ( -1-k)= 15
-1-k= 6
K= -7
