First, make it a common number between the denominator & ratio for A’s area.

6 : 21

From here, you know area A & area B make up a total of 27units.

Overlapped (shaded area) is 4units so 4x2=8 units to subtract the overlapped area by rectangle B as well.

6+21-4-4= 19
19u -> 95cm^2
19u+4u=23u (only add 4u since they are overlapped)
23u -> 115cm^2
