Crude oil fractions are mixtures of hydrocarbons. The hydrocarbons are all simple covalent structures but they have different molecular mass. Therefore, they have different strength of intermolecular forces between their molecules. Thus, amount of energy needed to overcome the forces differ accordingly. This results in different boiling points of the fractions.
