Hello, I disagree with the answer posted above, check my answer out instead! This should be the correct answer. For part (i), out of all the 38 students, only 8 of them are girls who did not check in their luggage. This means that the probability of picking a girl who did not check in their luggage should be 8/38 = 4/19. Similarly, for part (ii), 18 students in total checked in their luggage, so the probability of picking a student who checked in their luggage is 18/38 = 9/19. This topic is actually probability (basics of counting), and if I’m not wrong, it’s covered in Sec 3 or 4, I’m not sure if the syllabus has changed or this question has been tagged wrongly, but Sec 2 students definitely don’t do this yet …. EDIT: Ok so I checked and yes Sec 2 Math indeed covers probability already …, times have changed I guess haha
