for lg(x) = -1/2,
x must be positive, but lg(x) need not be positive.
x=10^(-1/2) = 0.316227766
check by substituting this value into original equation, it does satisfy the equation!
so there are actually 2 answers! ...
x= 0.316227766 or 1000
