Greetings. I apologise for my tardy response as I am going through a zoo day.
This is the deal. The question states that a total of $127.50 was paid for 50 burgers of which there were $3 fish burgers and $2.50 beef burgers.
Imagine that you were hosting a kid's birthday party and you left home with $127.50 in your LV. You initially intended to purchase 50 beef burgers, and so paid $2.50 x 50 = $125. But wait, you realised you still have $2.50 in your LV, and so you decided to spend all of it by exchanging some of the purchased beef burgers into fish burgers by doing a top-up. So, with $2.50, how many beef burgers can be exchanged for fish burgers? $2.50= $0.50 x 5.
A recap.
$127.50 - $2.50 x 50
‐----------------------------- = 5
$3 - $2.50
While guess-and-check is a valid method to use, my humble opinion is that primary school mathematics questions seldom necessitate its use. I hope this explanation helps. Regards
