Thank you so much!!!! Bless you . But the benzene ring is not chiral doesnt that affect the group ?
The benzene is symmetry its not chiral. Wouldn't that affect the group u said its chiral. Bcos one of the group of the chiral carbon is the same . 2OH on the same position on the benzene
Hi Chowder, the compound in the picture is cyclic, and benzene ring is aromatic.
Cylic compound can have chiral carbon.
This compound is not symmetric thou.
Be careful not to confuse this compound as aromatic.
Hope this helps!

If the benzene is symmetry . Will there still be chiral
-If it is a benzene, there will be no chiral carbon in the ring.
-Each carbon in a benzene ring has a double bond.
-Having double bond would inhibit the attachment of four different groups/atoms, so no chiral center.
