Usually for elimination always search for the common variables (in boxes for the first two)

Tip!
If both have the same signs (+/+,-/-) minus the two equations.
If both have different signs, add the two equations.

And then find the sub the value of x/y into the simpler equation :))

-for some more complex equations, this method may not be used and substitution method would be easier. So,only use them when equations are simple like these.
