Hey buddy, I hope the solution is comprehensive for your learning.
While this is a fractions question, there is a small element of algebra in it. I am not sure if algebra is covered in your curriculum, but in any case, it is a simple concept of using an alphabet to substitute words.
Basically, if the question doesn't give you a specific number but instead gives you a vague idea of the number, you can always use algebra. For instance, "the same number" is a vague idea of a number which i substituted with x, so that it becomes easier to work with.
