a) Acceleration = (40 - v)/10
1.8 = (40 - v) / 10
v = 22 m/s
b) Total distance travelled = Area under the speed-time graph
= Area of (trapezium + rectangle + triangle)
= 0.5x62x5 + 40x5 + 0.5x5x40
= 610m
