your (a)(i) is correct.
it is good that you are trying to solve some parts of the question by yourself.
for (a)(ii), have to consider the 2 different cases, of whether the 5 year flare fires is success or failure.
for (b), there is no way to solve for n algebraically.
the "table" feature in the TI-84 GC is very useful for solving such problems.
please check for calculation errors, as i am also human and occasionally make mistakes.
