this question posted under E Maths. although there is no rule that says cannot use A Maths technique to solve E Maths problems, have to consider that this student may not have learnt differentiation for part (b)(ii).

may be better to advise to solve using completing the square to get ...
y = 42250 - 10(x-15)^2,
which has maximum value at x =15.
