Very easy.
The function of Object Y is to push the switch towards the circuit and cause it to become closed, so that electricity can pass through and the bulb X will be lighted up.
It is not to provide a path for the electricity to pass through. That would be a requirement for the switch.

So, the switch must be a conductor of electricity, but object Y need not necessarily be an electrical conductor.
