The difference in the time between when you see the lighting and when you hear the lightning, take it as t. This is due to the difference in the speed of sound and light.
You take it that the time taken for the light of the lightning to reach your eyes as zero due to high speed of light compared to sound.
Multiply the time (t) by the speed of sound(given) so you will get the distance.
