The other way :
Draw a horizontal line to cut the figure into 2 rectangles.
Area of bigger rectangle (on top) = 6 cm × 24 cm = 144cm²
Length of smaller rectangle (below) = 17 cm - 6 cm = 11 cm
Area of smaller rectangle = 8 cm × 11 cm = 88 cm²
Area of figure = 144 cm² + 88 cm² = 232 cm²
