since books were exchanged between one another, total number of books remains unchanged at 400.
By model method, Muthu would have 4 units at the end, and Ali 1 unit only, both of them totaling 5 units.
Hence, 1 unit = 400/5 = 80
Muthu’s books in the beginning = 4 units - 290 = 80x4 - 290 = 30
