Let A be Alvin's present age, C be Carol's present age,
A = 3C --- equation 1
A+5 = 2(C+5) = 2C+10 --- equation 2
Sub equation 1 into equation 2,
3C+5 = 2C+10
C = 5
A = 15
A = 3C --- equation 1
A+5 = 2(C+5) = 2C+10 --- equation 2
Sub equation 1 into equation 2,
3C+5 = 2C+10
C = 5
A = 15
