Hi,
from the clues in the question, you can deduce that 1/4 of her salary is equal to (100-60)%= 40% of the remainder, after she has spent $1,200.
Hence,
40% of Remainder —-> 1/4 of salary
100% of Remainder —> 100/40 x 1/4
= 5/2 x 1/4 = 5/8 of salary

Therefore,
$1,200 —> (1- 5/8) of salary = 3/8 of salary

Then her total salary = 1200/3 x 8 = $3,200
