Seow Kok Huei's answer to huiling's Secondary 2 Maths question.
hi thanks so much but can i ask why 4w ecame 8w?
which line are you referring to?
-4w = 8w-12w (just expressing -4w in a different way)
the second line of y=
understand?
sorry but a bit confused
why did you change the numerator when the denominator is still the same?
you can choose not to change it. there's always multiple approaches to these questions. I change it to simplify the expression (easier to solve)
oh then may i ask what did you times to change the numerator? is it 2 or 3? because 4w became 8w
no no no..... you need to go back to the basics and try and understand the mathematical operation. you cant just add or multiply things (they change the expression, which you are not allowed to do). this is what i did:
1+4w-8w / (1+4w) = (1+4w)/(1+4w) - 8w/(1+4w)
1+4w-8w / (1+4w) = (1+4w)/(1+4w) - 8w/(1+4w)
oh i see
i should write it this way
(1+4w-8w) / (1+4w) = (1+4w)/(1+4w) - 8w/(1+4w)
(1+4w-8w) / (1+4w) = (1+4w)/(1+4w) - 8w/(1+4w)
i understand it now. thank you
you are welcome :)
