Solve it like any other quadratic eqn
-3x^2 + x + 10 = 0
(x-2)(3x+5) = 0
x = 2, x = -5/3

See 1 Answer

(7 - 3x)(x + 2) = 4
7x + 2(7) - 3x(x) - 3x(2) = 4
7x + 14 - 3x² - 6x = 4
14 + x - 3x² = 4
10 + x - 3x² = 0
(3x + 5)(2 - x) = 0
3x + 5 = 0 or 2 - x = 0
3x = -5 or x = 2
x = -5/3 (or-1⅔)
∴ x = -5/3 or x = 2

Alternatively, bring the terms to the other side (or multiply both sides of equation by -1)

10 + x - 3x² = 0

3x² - x - 10 = 0

(3x + 5)(x - 2) = 0

3x + 5 = 0 or x - 2 = 0

3x = -5 or x = 2

x = -5/3
(Or -1⅔)
