Not sure if you can use the "=" sign for unknowns so I used arrows instead.
B (the number of books) is an "unknown number" which you will find out the answer to later.

I use a mix of arrows and equals. I think they learnt it as equals and not arrows, but I can’t remember. Both presentations should be acceptable.
