When z = 1, x = 5,
x - 2 = 5 - 2 = 3 = 3 × 1 = 3z
When z = 2, x = 8,
x - 2 = 8 - 2 = 6 = 3 × 2 = 3z
When z = 3, x = 11,
x - 2 = 11 - 2 = 9 = 3 × 3 = 3z
Since x - 2 = 3z in all cases, (x - 2) is directly proportional to z.
The constant is 3 which means that (x - 2) is always 3 times of z.
