An alloy has atoms of different sizes and a pure metal has identical atoms arranged in regular layers. The layers slide over each other easily. Allowing pure metal to be more malleable. Alloys are harder and stronger because of the different-sizes of atoms of the mixed metals make the atomic layers irregular, so they cannot slide over each other as easily making them less malleable.
