This is hard and I can't understand can someone help and explain it to me
If we imagine 6 pizzas being sliced into quarters, there will be a total of 24 of them.
So, the question is basically asking, how many groups of 3 are there in 24?
There will be 8 groups.
So, there are a total of 8 of the three-quarters in 6 wholes.
If one whole →■■■■
Then ■→ 1 piece out of 4 →¼ (one quarter)
Then ■■■→ 3 pieces out of 4 → ¾ (three quarters)
Question : How many ¾ in 6 wholes ?
6 wholes → 6 x 4 quarters = 24 quarters
■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■
So how many sets of ■■■ can we get ?
24 quarters ÷ 3 quarters per set = 8 sets
We can get 8 sets of ¾
The 6 wholes can be divided into the following :
■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■
There are 8 sets of 3 pieces, the total is still 24 pieces
① 6 = 6/1
= 6/1 × 4/4 = 24/4
24/4 ÷ ¾ = 24 ÷ 3 = 8
or
24/4 = 8/1 × ¾ = 8 × ¾
So there are 8 'three quarters' in 6 wholes.
② Division of fractions (will only be taught in P6)
6/1 ÷ ¾ = 6/1 × 4/3 = 24/3 = 8
Basic principle is , when dividing by the fraction,
1. Invert its numerator and denominator.
2. Change the ÷ sign into × sign.
