2a) is correct. But if you don't want the negative sign outside, rewrite it as (2x + 3)(4 - x)

There is a little typo error in your working for the cross method of factorisation. It should be -8x instead of -6x

For 2b) you can rewrite it as 3(1-2a)(1+2a) if you don't want the negative sign beside the first term in the second bracket you wrote.

3(1 - 4a²)

= 3(1² - (2a)²)

= 3(1 - 2a)(1 + 2a)

(Using the property a² - b² = (a + b)(a - b) )
