sin²x - 5 sinx cosx - 6 cos²x = 0
Factorise first.
Think of it as a² - 5ab - 6b² = 0
(sinx + cosx)(sinx - 6 cosx) = 0
sinx + cosx = 0 or sinx - 6 cosx = 0
sinx = -cosx or sinx = 6cosx
sinx/cosx = -1 or sinx/cosx = 6
tanx = -1 or tanx = 6
Solve from here
