Part b is not related to part a and is more complicated.

We solve this the normal way we would solve an equation like

3 sin u + 1 = 0

except that u = (2x - 40) degrees and x is defined to be between 0 degrees and 360 degrees, so if we work out u, we need angles of u to lie between -40 degrees and 680 degrees.
