Given cost of book = 3x of pencil case and each of them spent on the same items,
Let cost of pencil case = $a and cost of a book = $3a
Total cost each of them spent = $a + $3a = $4a
Since amount of money E left is 3 times of M, therefore :
3 units + $4a = $150 ———-(1)
1 unit + $4a = $70————-(2)
(1)-(2):
2 units = $150-$70 = $80
1 unit = $40
Since 1unit + $4a = $70,
Therefore $4a = $ 70 -$40 = $30
Cost of book = $3a = $30 /4 x 3 = $22.50
Let cost of pencil case = $a and cost of a book = $3a
Total cost each of them spent = $a + $3a = $4a
