Alternatively, we can let a and b be fixed constants such that a = 8 + π and b = 640 (12 + π) / (8 + π), such that

S = ax² + b/x
S = ax² + b (x^-1)

to make our differentiation easier, and from here we see that

dS/dx
= a (2) (x) + b (-1) (x^-2)
= 2ax - b/x²

and we can now bring back our constants a and b to make the expression become

dS/dx
= 2 (8 + π) x - [640 (12 + π) / (8 + π)] / x²
