For part ii), you may apply factor theorem to solve and proof whether the equation has one real root. Factor theorem must apply trial and error. Usually try values like -3,-2,-1, 1, ,2 ,3 or 0.5.

Here's an alternative solution for your consideration. However, I'm not sure if you could approach the qn this way for qn such as this. You may need to consult your teacher or others for their opinion. Whether or not this method is acceptable especially in the exams.
