The volume of the tank = 80cm * 50cm * 60cm = 240,000cm^3.

Therefore 240 litres of water is needed to fill the tank to the brim.

The container does not have a crack when water is filled until 5/8 full.

5/8 of tank volume = 5/8 * 240 litres = 150 litres.

The rate of the tap is 1.5 litres/min, so this section takes 150 / 1.5 = 100 minutes.

Now the container hs a crack that removes water at a rate of 0.5 litres/min. Therefore the tank is now only filled with water at 1 litre/min.

The tank only has 3/8 of its volume left to fill with water, which is 3/8 * 240 litres = 90 litres. So this section takes 90 / 1 = 90 minutes.

Altogether, the total duration is 100 + 90 = 190 minutes, or 3 hours and 10 minutes.
