for part (a), ..
whenever the question does not say "find exact value" or "do without calculator", you can also just key the integral into your G.C. to find the answer.
for your info, my G.C gives the exact same result, so the integration should be correct.
for part (b)
the result is standard formula for ellipse,
area of ellipse = (pi)ab
