Hello, remember negative numbers add together to give you more negative numbers. But negative numbers multiply each other to give you positive numbers, so play around with the numbers to see how you can get the answer!

Now there is only 1 value of x for which y is zero. This means the curve only cuts the x axis at 1 point.

Hello, sorry this part is a bit hard to explain. Basically, we want to put the quadratic equation of x^2 + x - 6 = 0 into a form of (x + ?)(x +?). How do we do it?
We can use a little bit of guess and check. See the example I wrote using the letters a and b. It will help you to understand.
Since we have a negative number of -6. We know one of the numbers in the question mark (x + ?)(x - ?) is a negative number. This is because of both are (x -?)(x-?) then two negatives multiplying together will give you a positive number. So we know one is negative.
Then we also find out that the coefficient of x is 1. Remember the example I wrote (a+b) is 1. How can a + b be so small? This makes sense because either a or b is a negative number.
So if a = 3 or b = -2, when we multiply them together we get -6, which makes sense! If we add them together, 3-2 is 1. So everything makes sense now.
Hope it helps!!
