25% = 1/4
Ratio of men to women = 4 : 1

But 1 cannot be divided by 4 to give a whole number. So change the ratio first by multiplying by 4.

4 : 1 = 16 : 4

25% of women would be 1 unit. So 1 unit of women left.

After they left, ratio of men to women
= 16 : 3

Difference = 16 units - 3 units = 13 units
Difference also = 325

So 325 people = 13 units
1 unit = 325 people ÷ 13 = 25 people

Units of people left
= 16 units + 3 units = 19 units

Another 205 men joined after this.

Total number of people at the end

= 19 units + 205
= 19 x 25 + 205
= 475 + 205
= 680

usually students get a bit nauseous upon seeing improper fractions representing units ^_^ i’ll show another method using equivalent ratios that are easily divisible

This is the easiest and clearest method. I left a similar working in the main comments section very early but I think the student missed it out.
