While it may be tempting to be wary of the difference between integration and area under the curve as per usual cases, here negative displacement should be considered as the question is not looking for the distance travelled. To clarify:

Negative displacement occurs when 0 < t < 1 where velocity is negative
Positive displacement occurs when t > 1 where velocity is positive
(i) If the question would ask for the distance travelled the solution would be = -int (0 to 1) + int (1 to t)
(ii) If the question asks for the displacement travelled the solution would be = int (0 to t)
