the two 8 ohm resistors are connected in parallel to each other, and together, they are connected in series with the 2 ohm resistor.
effective resistance of the two 8 ohm resistors
= 1 / (1/8+1/8) = 4 ohm
effective resistance of the 3 resistors
= 4 + 2 = 6 ohm
p.d. across 2 ohm resistor
= (2/6) x 18 = 6 V
effective resistance of the two 8 ohm resistors
= 1 / (1/8+1/8) = 4 ohm
effective resistance of the 3 resistors
= 4 + 2 = 6 ohm
p.d. across 2 ohm resistor
= (2/6) x 18 = 6 V
