to find the volume of the block, take the volume reading from the cylinder with the rock minus the volume reading without the rock. this is because when the rock is placed inside the liquid, it will displace a volume of water equal to the volume of the rock, hence causing the volume to increase. so the difference between the two volumes will be the volume of the rock. density is mass/volume so just take the mass divided by the volume u find. units for density should be g/cm^3 in this case (:
