Your working is correct.
6/11 of the remainder = 2/9 of the total pages
Make the numerator the same since the units should be the same. (Equal concept)
2/9 of total = 6/27 of the total.
Since 6/11 of remainder = 6/27 of total,this tells us that total pages = 27 units, and remainder = 11 units.
So pages read = 27 - 11 = 16 units
16 units = 144 pages
1 unit = 144 pages ÷ 16 = 9 pages
Total pages in the book
= 27 units
= 27 x 9 pages
= 243 pages
