Under the sunlight, the plant would photosynthesis and produce sugar and mineral salts hence transport to the other parts of the plant including the fruits.

More sunlight will result with more photosynthesis occurring thus more sugar/starch will be produce and it will be stored in the fruit — answer for (a)
The waste will act as a fertiliser/ nutrients for the soils thus the plant can grow better
