a) area of largest semi-circle
= (3.14 x 24^2) ÷ 2
= 904.32 cm^2

area of second largest semi-circle
= [3.14 x (24 ÷ 2)^2] ÷ 2
= 226.08 cm^2

area of smallest semi-circle
= [3.14 x (24 ÷ 2 ÷ 2)^2] ÷ 2
= 56.52cm^2

area of shaded region
= (904.32 - 226.08) + 226.08 + 56.52
= 960.84cm^2

The radius of the largest semi-circle is 24cm.
The radius of the second largest semi-circle is 12cm.
The radius of the smallest semi-circle is 6cm.
