179 is the unshaded area …
need to add back the 42 ….
total shaded area is 179 + 42 = 221 cm2.
for Amanda, do note that you cannot assume the lengths 10 cm & 3 cm which you have marked in pencil. treat all diagrams as "not to scale", meaning that they are not drawn accurately. cannot assume any length/angle & cannot use ruler/protractor to measure. if any information is not given, very likely that it is not required.
