The sad part about this is that the "1" in the first two lines seem to not get multiplied by (x + 4).
Correct is
... + (x - 4) (1) = ...
Correct is
... + (x - 4) (1) = ...

When u multiply on both sides, u have to multiply the entire side with the multiplier.
