Imagine... if you were the one rearranging the chairs, how would you do it?

1) After rearranging, each row has 9 chairs. That is to say, for the existing rows of 12 chairs in the beginning , I will need to remove 3 chairs from each row.

2) In order to create the 11 new rows, I brought in 3 more chairs.

99 - 3 = 96

Without the 3 chairs, the number of chairs taken from existing rows is 96.

3) If I took a total 96 chairs by removing 3 chairs from each row, how many rows were there?

96/3 = 32

4) Since each row had 12,
32 x 12 = 384

Plus 3 new chairs,
384 + 3 = 387

How to check?

Since the new arrangement had 9 chairs per row,
387/9 = 43

We have 43 rows in total for new arrangement.
43 - 32 = 11

So the answer satisfies 2 conditions:

1) The answer can be divided by 9 equally.
2) The number of new rows is 11 more than the old arrangement.

Hope this helps!
