Model is correct. What you can do further is to cut up each shaded unit into two parts for the first model.

Fraction of big packets left over
= 2/5
= 4/10

Fraction of small packets left over
= 4/9

The number of packets left of each kind is the same so the units should be made the same.

From above we can see that the numerator is the same (4 units each)

Looking at the denominator, we can say that there are 9 units of small packets and 10 units of big packets in total at first

Method : mass x quantity

Total mass of rice in all the small packets
= 9 units x ½kg
= 4½ units kg

Total mass of rice in all the big packets
= 10 units x 2kg
= 20 units kg

Total mass of all the rice
= 4½ units kg + 20 units kg
= 24½ units kg

Total mass also = 98 kg

So 24½ units kg = 98 kg

1 unit = 98 kg ÷ 24½ kg = 4

Number of small packets packed
= 4 x 9
= 36
