I will do the question for the falling down motion of the ball. Assume that the base of the ball is 25 m above the ground.
If the ball accelerates at 0.5 m/s2, then we have the following.
Speed at the top of the flagpole is 0 m/s. Let the time taken to hit the ground be t s.
Speed of the ball upon collision with ground, v
= u + at
= 0 + 0.5t
= 0.5t
Total distance travelled by ball
= Area under speed-time graph
= 1/2 x t x 0.5t
= 0.25 t^2
0.25 t^2 = 25
t^2 = 100
t = 10
So it takes 10 seconds for the ball to reach the ground from the highest point.

Anyway, for the last part, it's t = 10 s and total time is 20 s.
