We do a cross-table factorisation in a very similar way to how you would factorise 2a² + 7a - 4.
2a²+ 7ab - 4b² = 0
(2a - b) (a + 4b) = 0
2a - b = 0 or a + 4b = 0
b = 2a or a = -4b
(2a - b) (a + 4b) = 0
2a - b = 0 or a + 4b = 0
b = 2a or a = -4b
