I don't understand the meaning of distance between two towns

The distance between two towns refers to the distance betweeen town x and town y
Is the answer 493.34km/h or 1480 out of 3 km/h

the distance between two towns because Mr Y travelled from X to Y but Mr Foo travelled from Y to X. you need to draw a diagram to understand better. They met at x (as labelled) in between towns X and Y. hope you understand and can complete the answer on your own :)
