Expand using normal binomial expansion, second part expand the second equation, multiply the expanded forms together, simplify and compare the coefficients to given data to solve a and b

You might be mistaken, for partial fractions there needs to be a denominator and numerator. Rather seems like this question is referring to expansion rather than on partial fractions
