Let make Jane money = $60 units days (20 and 30 common multiple)

Let number of day = u

1) When Jane spend $20 each day.
It take 3u x $20 to spend all the money.
So Claire will be 3u x $30 = $90u + 100

2) When Jane spend $30 each day.
It take 2u x $30 to spend all the money.
So Claire 2u x $20 = $40u + $600.

Therefore, Claire's total money are same.
90u + 100 = 40u +600
50u = 500
1u = 10

Total for Claire
= 40u + 600
=[40x10] +600
=$1000.
--or--
= 90u +100
= [90 x 10] + 100
= $ 1000.

Hope this helps
